B-17G Flying Fortress
There is just something inspiring about seeing a B-17 Flying Fortress in flight. Whether you are an aviation enthusiast or not, you can’t help but feel some sort of emotion just looking at this plane. Part of the reason for that is it just looks cool, with all of its gunner positions, and the cockpit windows make it appear as if it’s flying around with a scowl on it’s face. But the thing we personally feel the most when we look at this plane is Respect. Respect for the crews who operated this aircraft, and the intense situations they willingly put themselves in, in the name of protecting what they unwaveringly knew was right.
The B-17 Flying Fortress was the most successful American bomber flown in World War 2. It was known for it’s durability, being able to return it’s crew home from a bombing raid even after sustaining incredibly heavy damage. The B-17 would receive multiple updates during the War, receiving upgrades to its armament and more powerful engines with each new variant. The mostly widely produced variant was the B-17G, with it’s highly recognizable chin turret. But, some of the most iconic B-17 crews, like the Memphis Belle and Ye Olde Pub, flew an F variant. So, the nose piece for both variants is included in this download. Please enjoy building and flying our design of this important piece of aviation history.
